ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER
My name is Janet Paxton and my company name is Janet Paxton Photos.

I really enjoy taking photos in order to make beautiful pictorial memories. I originally started doing this, as most people do, with a small 35mm film camera just taking snapshots of holidays, events and family.

While living in Switzerland I progressed to a small digital camera, a Nikon Coolpix 880. With this camera I was able to capture some of the amazing scenery of the mountains and lakes and became really hooked on photography. Meanwhile, I also began to take more sport pictures of my children and became frustrated with the time lag when turning the camera on and then the slow shutter release when actually taking the photo. I then  upgraded to a professional Nikon digital SLR, the D1H. This is especially well known as a professional sport photographers favorite camera due to its amazing speed capabilities. Having had great success with this, I also started using the Nikon D1X for Fine Art pictures that can be enlarged to 20" by 30" and beyond. I started selling some of the pictures I had taken and my new career began.

Following our two years in Switzerland we were fortunate enough to be transferred to Singapore where I spent an amazing year traveling around South East Asia. This is where I became addicted to travel and in particular, travel photography, especially portraits of local people. I had many pictures published in magazines in Singapore and started taking freelance assignments.  I was a member of the Photographic Society of Singapore and was invited to apply for Licentiateship to the Society. After submitting ten of my favorite photos, I was granted this privilege and officially became a Professional Photographer. I was also invited to become a member of the Nikon Professional Services group. I was offered an amazing contract with the school my children attended there, as the official publicity photographer and my assignment was to take photos of many school events and also to travel with the school groups on their various expeditions throughout the South East Asia region and beyond but ...... unfortunately, we were reassigned back to the USA before I was able to start this incredible job.

So now I am back in New Jersey until our next global assignment comes along!

I was able to set up my business here and am now taking assignments on a freelance basis.  I have done a lot of work for the local newspapers in the last six months and enjoy the challenge of  the variety of new experiences.

I take a lot of sport photos of local team action and will soon be putting these up on the web site for sale. They will be password protected to save parents the worry of their children's pictures being on the open Internet. I use Shutterfly for much of my printing, although I do print up to 19" by 13" matte pictures at home on my professional Epson 2100 printer.

I am also selling my travel photos as Fine Art pictures to grace your walls in offices, homes, restaurants, reception areas etc.

I enjoy attending two camera clubs and I am constantly learning from all the people I meet there. I have had a lot of success in the various competitions at the club in Newtown, PA, and also at some international competitions.

This venture could not happen without the support, technical help and constant encouragement of my husband, Tony, who buys me cameras and computer equipment instead of diamonds!
